I have the unique privilege of living on this earth through a time when I have seen the world change so many times in my life, that the miracles of our creation are undeniable and I would like to use my first post to show my gratitude to My Lord, Allah SWT. I was created in 1985, born to a beautiful woman who converted to Islam. I am part of a family that shares two religions, Christianity and Islam and have seen how our differences can push us apart and where it can bring us closer together.
I have seen black and white television transform into LED panels that hang on walls, and I have fond memories of living next to a neighbour and seeing how he bred carrier pigeons to deliver messages to loved ones and the time and care it took to breed them and train them to travel, then return home, with messages tied around their legs, and watching how every two weeks, the yearning and anxiousness grows, watching the sky to see if they would make it back home, versus the cell phones with hundreds of messages per day and the loved ones we take for granted, even though they are only a whisper away.
I have the privilege of being part of a very large family, number 11 of 12 children, with all of my nephews and nieces who bring light and love to our family, and I have also grown up in a neighborhood that is so poor, I walk past a hole in the wall, where unwanted babies are left, who cannot be cared for.
I have the privilege of being a part of creation, the ebb and flow of my breathe alongside the wind blowing through the trees, my heart beating with the rhythm of the ocean, and the sound of children playing alongside squirrels and kittens, all vibrating with the energy of life.
I have the privilege of choice, knowing that my mind is a tool that I can use to forge forests with armies for freedom or break whole spirits and crush lives with my words, when I speak without thinking.
I love being a part of creation and using all the gifts I have been blessed with to create an infinity of beautiful things, with all the love I have to give. I am Raghmah
